Silverlight Sucks Already

I decided to give the so called “Flash Killer” [Silverlight](http://silverlight.net/) a whirl and see what all the so called “hype” is about. As a huge fan of halo, I ended up attempting to view the [Halo 3 videos](http://silverlight.net/showcase/) on the showcase page. Only one problem: The video itself asked me for my birthdate (I assume to make sure I’m over 13, but probably also MS way of tracking demographic) which absolutely would not accept *any* input in my Firefox Browser. I switched over to IE7 and sure enough, it worked like a charm. Lame, Microsoft, just lame!

  1. Damn, Yoshimoto! That was the most intelligent comment ever. Remind me never to get into an argument with you!

  2. Firefox is for fags.

  3. Well, I kinda agree with you, but give them sometime, it’s still very new. :)

  4. Amman Days Forums

  5. Im agree with you

  6. Firefox stands for decency. They take care of their users, by working for everyone. The best browser to code in. They get my respect

  7. Internet Explorer is for tards. Firefox 3 is the best browser available and it’s still in beta phase…

  8. Yes, IE is for the tardo’s Firefox is still too slow, Opera was my main
browser for a couple of years but that’s all changed since Safari has
finally got out of the beta version and on my windows PC, as far as
I’m concerned Safari is the new best browser. Oh I almost forgot, silverlight does suck.

  9. FF3RC1 Pretty much rocks, Beta 5 was good, but I’ve yet to have any problems with RC1 since release. Even most of the least knowledgeable PC users I know have switched to FF from IE by now. IE’s a good idea presented poorly.. WHen they made it they wanted web and file/folder navigation to be all in one, where Mozilla proved that a dedicated browser is just 10 fold more powerful

  10. I checked out Silverlight and it’s hard to even find the Linux version (at least they have one). So I figured out Microsoft partnered with Novell and Novell made Moonlight, the Linux version. Sadly, it’s only compatible with Firefox 2. Well, I’m not gonna let that stop me. I tried it on Firefox 3 and managed to get 2 instances of Moonlight up before it crashed. At least Adobe flash doesn’t die with such few instances.

  11. Our Company went back to flash, Silverlight is not as powerful as flash and there are few components available online compared to flash (because they have been here for too long).

Secondly our clients specificially told us to cease making there site in silverlight and start again in flash. (silverlight is way too behind to even come on the scene.

A classic example is Microsoft investing in the HD DVD technology but there is no point, since the rival Sony released the blu-ray technology that stores more info and with pioneer behind the project, they are in the process of releasing the World’s first 500gb single Blu-Ray Disk.

We thought as a company because of something new it was worth investing in and coming on the scene, but it isnt worth it.

Silverlight is no good in todays stage and has come out at a too late stage compared to the Adobe flash sides of things.

    Adious!
